Intern Spotlight: Elle Hausfeld

Elle Hausfeld is a junior studying Child and Family Studies at Ohio University. Elle has decided to complete her internship with the Athens CASA/GAL program. Her concentration within her major is Pediatrics and she is earning a minor in Health Service Administration.

What brought you to CASA?

Being immersed in the Athens community I have learned a lot about the various services and programs that are offered. Through my peers in my major, I learned about the work of CASA/GAL and was instantly interested in getting involved. Everyone has had such a phenomenal and pivotal experience with this organization; I knew this is where I wanted to complete my practicum.

Why is CASA important to you?

CASA is important to me because it is helping children in our community who may not necessarily have a voice. Advocates, allies, and others alike coming together to support this cause while helping abused/neglected children.

What do you do outside of CASA?

I am active in several organizations outside of CASA. I am a member of Alpha Gamma Delta on campus and I just stepped down from my leadership role as Director of Activities. I am a member of the Child Life Student Organization where I also just passed down my role to the next executive member as the secretary. I was recently inducted into the Ralph and Luci Schey Sales Centre last semester and I am an active member now. Recently I was recruited to be a part of the Student Correspondence Committee in the Ohio Honors Program. Our goal is to build the brand of Ohio Honors, create connections among peers and build our alumni network. Currently, I am employed at Kids on Campus in Nelsonville where I work as a Team Leader in their after-school program.

How do you wind down or spend your free time?

To wind down I like to work out. As much as it is to be physically healthy; it is more important to clear my mind so I am in a great headspace. In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors, hanging out with friends and family, getting coffee (Donkey), and listening to country music.

What is something people may not know about you?

Something people may not know about me is that I have been to 49 of the 50 states.

What is something you've learned recently? One thing I have learned recently is that I enjoy reading.
