About the event
This introductory session provides an overview of the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT), developed by Dr. Bruce Perry, and explores how experiences during pregnancy, infancy, and early childhood shape the developing brain. Participants will learn how developmental trauma can disrupt sequential brain development, leading to challenges with regulation, behavior, learning, and relationships. Through an understanding of the brain’s hierarchical organization, attendees will explore why children respond the way they do and how to match interventions to a child’s developmental needs. This session also introduces the Regulate, Relate, Reason (3 R) sequence and other brain-informed, trauma-responsive strategies that support both proactive and responsive regulation. Participants will leave with a foundational understanding of sequential brain development and practical tools to create safe, connected environments that foster healing, resilience, and learning.
