About the event
Join us for an engaging and informative session on what advocates need to know to support LGBTQ+ youth. The session will be led by Michelle Wilson. Michelle Wilson is a financial planner at Athens Impact Socially Responsible Investments. She is a lifelong advocate for equality. In that vein, she helped start the first the LGBT+ Fellowship in Rotary International and is serving as the President of that group. She also volunteered as a CASA in Butler County before moving to this area.
In this lunchtime learning, Michelle will share general concepts about gender and sexuality, and we will look at some up to date vocabulary to use when working with people in the LGBT+ family. She’ll break up the talk with some interactive exercises where we discuss situations we could encounter. The goal is to find ways to incorporate inclusive habits into our work as a CASA so everyone can feel safe and comfortable working with us.
